Green Godess Detox Smoothie!

GF, DF, Sugar Free, Vegetarian, Vegan-Option, Nut-Free

This is such a delicious and nourishing smoothie! It is packed with TONS of greens to support and nourish your entire body, especially your liver!

This smoothie enhances your detox pathways to help clear your body all of the toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis! We are exposed to these toxin from conventional food, house hold cleaning products, conventional personal hygiene products, lack of time in nature, candles, cookware, and the list goes on! Some of these toxins are avoidable by switching the types of products and food you use/consume. Some of these toxins are unavoidable which is why it so important to support our detox pathways.

How does this smoothie support your detox pathways?!
1. Kale

This beautiful leafy vegetable is a cruciferous vegetable. It contains two phytochemicals called Indol-3-carbinol (I3C) and diindolylmethane (DIM) that support liver detoxification. I3C is a potent anti-oxidant to combat free radial formation and uncontrolled cell replication. DIM supports the body’s estrogen balance by helping the liver clear xenoestrogens . It supports women in menopause and with PCOS, acne, weight loss and skin care. It is beneficial for men since it supports aromatase inhibitor and acts as an estrogen blocker. In the recipe I noted that “organic is a must” when eating kale. This is because kale is one of the most highly sprayed and contaminated crops. The EWG has a list of the most highly contaminated (the dirty dozen) that is recommended to buy organic is possible and a list of the least contaminated crops (the clean 15) that you don’t have to buy organic. Click for the Clean 15 and Dirty 12!
2. Pineapple
Have you ever heard that pineapple is really good for your digestion?? Pineapples are rich in bromelain which is an enzyme that helps the body breakdown and digest proteins. Our bodies use bromelain to break proteins down into their building blocks so we can use the amino acids to build, repair and nourish our bodies! It is an important enzyme. It is also packed with nutrients to support our detox systems and tastes delicious!
3. Spirulina
Spirulina is defiantly a super food!! I don’t use that word lightly but it totally fits the bill! It is a type of blue-green algae that is extremely nutrient dense, fights inflammation, suppresses oxidation, regulates blood sugar, improves blood lipid levels and even reduces high blood pressure. How does this aid in detoxification? Its overall effect on the body helps remove toxins, lowers inflammation and supplies nutrients to support healing and repair of our bodies!
4. Chia Seeds
This little power house seeds contain the perfect balance of soluble and insoluble fiber to help keep you regular! One of our main detoxification pathways is our intestinal system! We need to be pooping regularly and fully to eliminate our toxic waste! When we are constipated, we reabsorb those toxins back into our bodies which contribute to us feeling crappy! You should have a bowel movement 2-3 times a day!
5. Collagen & Protein
These are two are required to heal, repair and support our entire body. We need all of our systems working properly for our detox pathways to be efficient. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and I am a big fan of supplementing with it. It helps heal and protect our gut lining, making our hair thick and luscious, make our nails strong and our skin looking young!

I crafted this recipe to taste delicious, nourish our body and support detoxification!

I hope you enjoy this super green smoothie! When you try it, let me know what you think in the comments or tag me on social!
