GF, DF, Paleo, Nut-Free Option, Sugar Free
This is a family favorite! My husband likes to make the peanut butter version. It literally tastes like a peanut butter cup but without all of the pro-inflammatory and chemical ingredients! I love to have this smoothie on mornings when I want some extra comfort. For some reason, a big bowl of chocolatey goodness is comforting and delicious!
Why I love this Recipe…
1. Hormone Balancing!
This smoothie contains the optimal ratio of protein, fiber and fat to support your body systems and balance your hormones! Protein is from the protein powder. The healthy fats are from the almond butter and fiber from the chia seeds!
2. Detoxifying!
All of the ingredients work synergistically to support our main detoxification pathways. This is important since we are exposed to lots of different pollutants and chemicals throughout our day. The nutrients in this smoothie provide the fuel our body needs to naturally detoxify with the emphasis on that frozen kale! The frozen kale is delicious in the smoothie since you cant taste it and you get a serving of leafy greens first thing in the morning! Kale is a cruciferous vegetable which contains powerful phytochemicals that fight inflammation and super charge the liver to detoxify!
3. Anti-oxidants!
Did you know that cacao (raw cocoa) is one of my most anti-oxidant foods known? It helps combat free-radical damage from toxins and chemicals we are exposed to! Bring on the chocolate! Cacao also promotes relaxation without making you sleepy which is why its perfect in your breakfast!
I hope you enjoy this nutrient dense smoothie! Let me know on social or on the comments below when you try it!
